As a photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless special moments, but there’s something uniquely magical about a maternity photoshoot at sunset. Recently, I had the joy of photographing a beautiful couple during their summer maternity session of Shannon and Julian in Malibu, and the experience was nothing short of enchanting. I’m excited to share the behind-the-scenes story of this memorable shoot and the stunning results that followed.

Malibu is known for its picturesque landscapes and vibrant sunsets, making it an ideal location for capturing the beauty of pregnancy. For this particular shoot, we chose Malibu Beach as our canvas—a place where the ocean meets the sky in a breathtaking display of natural beauty. The timing was perfect: a summer evening, when the weather was warm and the light was simply divine.

We decided to start the session in the late afternoon to make the most of the golden hour, that precious time when the sun casts a soft, warm glow over everything. The anticipation was palpable as we arrived on location and began preparing for the shoot.


The soft summer breeze, the gentle sound of the waves, and the stunning backdrop of Malibu Beach all contributed to an atmosphere of calm and serenity. The golden hour light was the perfect complement, casting a warm, flattering glow that made the scene even more magical.

Photographing a maternity session in Malibu at sunset was an experience filled with beauty and serenity. The combination of the stunning coastal landscape, the magical golden hour light, and the genuine emotions of the couple made this shoot one of my most memorable.
